"Ua mau ke ea o ka aina i ku pono."
The life of the land is preserved in righteousness.
Relaxation, Rejuvenation and Renewal are all held in this magical place that the spirit calls home!
Created by Agricultural Artist and Horticultural Master, Ali’i Chang, AKL’s 13.5-acre farm resides at an elevation of roughly 4000 ft. and is home to approximately 55,000 lavender plants and 45 different varieties of lavender. Olive trees, hydrangea, Protea, succulents and an exceptional variety of other plants can be found on the farm, which offers the first and only Lavender Lifestyle experience on Maui.
Though lavender is not native to Maui, it has acclimated well to the majestic mountain-slope with style and grace. Thriving in Kula’s Mediterranean climate, AKL’s lavender blooms year round in the cool, dry climate.
Lavender was given to Ali’i in 2001 by a dear friend and being the consummate gardener that he was, he planted the herb with the best of intentions to have it breathe and blossom into what AKL is today—a true work of art!
Ali'i prided himself on having an impeccable and ever-changing canvas for all eyes and took considerable pride in his work and the work of his staff. The farm illuminates the life Ali’i lived and the legacy he left behind. His art of growing plants and utilizing the resources available to him helped Ali’i to transcend his role as a farmer to a master gardener and visionary, as well. Much more than a working lavender farm, AKL is a botanical garden filled with the artifacts and collectibles that Ali’i gathered in his many years of travel and entrepreneurship.
Ali'i Kula Lavender (AKL) is the premier purveyor of Sustainable Aloha through educational stewardship and nurturing the well being of our communities and planet for future generations. "Tradewinds blow across the vast blue Pacific laden with pure cool rains that nurture our rainforests and upcountry farms. The mineral rich volcanic soils of Haleakala and the water bearing breezes create the world's finest growing environment for tropicals and exotics.
Generations of farmers have worked to develop new and lasting varieties of tropical blooms. Today, Hawaii leads the world in quantity and production of exotic flowers, and Maui is the premier producer of the many varieties grown here.
Indescribable species of protea are grown in upcountry Maui. Bold and multicolored tropicals thrive in the rainforests of Hana and East Maui. Maui's exotic flowers have a long vase life, making them perfect for shipping from Maui. All major airlines make daily flights to the mainland and beyond, so these magnificent blooms can be sent directly from the grower to you." (Maui Floral)
We choose Maui Floral when we send Tropical Flowers to the Mainland !
