We would like to share with you our Top 5 Things To Do if you’re visiting Maui for Thanksgiving.
Old Lahaina Luau
Old Lahaina Luau , Lahaina Maui
Having lived for almost 30 years in Maui we have experienced Thanksgiving Day in so many ways. Many of our Visitors that come during this time of the year will experience a special celebration of what Family or Ohana means.

"Ohana" means family in Hawaii. It includes one's relatives, but also in a wider sense friends and neighbors.

Beautiful day's and sunsets are blessed thru-out November . The rainy season begins along the north, northeast and northwestern shores. Waterfalls and Rainbows are a daily scene, making for some great photos. The temperature stay's in the 70's, and in the 60's if you venture up to Haleakala. Local Towns bring out their holiday decorations and lighting so making road trips is well worth taking the sites in. The Humpback Whales return to play in the Maui waters. The winter swells start up to bring large waves to all sides of the island. One of the beautiful changes of season does happen when the Poinsettia plants begin to turn red.

It is very easy to be thankful to be in Hawaiʻi during the winter months!

Halloween is Lahaina has been advertised as the "Mardi Gras of the Pacific." The west side town closes down and thousands of costume revelers walk up and down Front Street. A Costume Parade opens the early evening event and entertainment continues into the late evening at Restaurants and Bars. Hotel rooms are booked a year in advance so it is best to reserve your rooms at least a year ahead. We offer many locations within walking distance so check out our website and contact us if your planning to come during the Halloween Event at www.mauitropicalvacations.com
The origins of the famed celebration of Halloween in Lahaina are not well known.
Back in the 1980's people started coming to Lahaina for Halloween, the event grew to include costume contests, kids events, and a place to party. By 1990 it became an Official Event and the County of Maui closed down Front Street to keep the street safe from traffic and let the people walk around. The promotions and advertising started and the event by 1997 became known as the "Mardi Gras of the Pacific." As years passed, a reputation had developed that the Event was a raucous party and said to be culturally insensitive. By 2008 the County's Cultural Resource Commission denied permits allowing for the the late night street closure and party. The afternoon keiki parade and costume party was allowed to continue. For two years, Lahaina did not have an official Halloween Celebration. In 2011, the county brought the party back to Lahaina. The crowd's were not as big to start, but slowly people are coming back. Seems like everyone is glad to have the event back. I will be far from Front Street on Monday October 31, 2016 , quietly passing candy out instead of passing out. For all that do go Enjoy, but please be mindful and considerate of all the people and the town of Lahaina.

Tropical Fruit year round in Hawaii is always available just visit a local supermarket or a farmers markets. Mangoes, bananas, pineapples, avocados, papayas, lychee, and star fruit are just a few of the succulent samplings that grow statewide.

What makes a fruit tropical ? A fruit is tropical if it's plucked from a tree or plant that is native to the tropics. Generally that means anywhere between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, these circles of latitude where the climate is warm, humid and rainy. Tropical fruit cannot tolerate freezing temperatures , which is why you probably won't find too many of them growing n say Mindsets unless it is in a heated greenhouse.

While tropical fruits are always a joy to eat fresh, frozen ones are ideal for cool summertime treats. So as the weather heats up, take some time to cool off and enjoy one of our favorite recipe the Dairy Free Pineapple Coconut Sorbet. <![CDATA[Best Time To Visit Maui]]>Wed, 29 Jun 2016 02:31:54 GMThttp://mauitropicalvacations.com/blog/best-time-to-visit-mauiMaui Tropical Vacations Logo
Traveler's are always asking us , "So what is the Best time to Visit Maui ? We say - ANYTIME ! Every Season here on Maui offers just about everything your looking for. Spring and fall shoulder seasons provide the pleasant weather Hawaii vacationers seek without the high rates and heavy crowds that accompany the summer and winter. If you want to get out of the chilly cold and Surf some Big Waves then Winter Time is for you. If you're traveling with kids, you may want to splurge for a summer trip as that's when the waters are calmest.

We offer Vacation Rentals, Condos, Hotels and B&B's along the coastal towns that can match any budget. We can also set you up with a car and fun adventures so please take a moment and fill out our form below and we will get back to you with some great choices.

Uncrowded Beaches...

We divided each season into a brief summary.
This way you can decide....
Your Best Time to Vacation on Maui !

From Dec-March:
Maui sees large numbers of snowbirds flying the chilly coop during the winter months. Those who visit Maui in the winter are willing to shell out the high airfare costs and room rates for a taste of the island's 80-degree weather. At this time of year, the waters around popular sites like Hookipa Beach are too rough for swimming but just right for catching a wave. This is also a prime time for whale watching.

Key Events:

Big Waves at Jaw's...

From April to May:
Average springtime temperatures remain in the 80s, but Maui has long since said goodbye to the winter tourists. And because the summer crowds have yet to arrive, finding deals on airfare and lodging can be relatively easy. The island also puts on several notable festivals in March and April, making this a good time to learn more about Maui's culture.

Key Events:

Hale Makai Beach House - Families from 2-12

From June to August:
Temperatures may be warm on the mainland, but travelers can't resist Maui in the summer. This is when the island sees a large influx of families — the arrival of summertime brings with it less forceful currents, making swimming conditions better for younger beach bums. The island also boasts a full social calendar with summer events celebrating everything from food to movies to music.

Key Events:

From September to November:
Trips along the Road to Hana are especially scenic at this time of year, and since there are fewer tourists than there are in summer and winter, traffic might not be as much of an issue along the route. During the fall, temperatures remain in the 80s, though challenging currents make their way back to shore. Like in the spring, flight and hotel deals abound; book several weeks in advance for the lowest rates.

Key Events:

Please fill out our brief contact form below and let us provide you with some great options for your next Maui Hawaii Vacation.
With a Warm Aloha, Paula and Cliff

<![CDATA[10 Smart Tips FOr Traveler's Packing luggage]]>Sun, 22 May 2016 00:14:29 GMThttp://mauitropicalvacations.com/blog/10-smart-tips-for-travelers-packing-luggage Maui Tropical Vacations Logo

Packing tips to help you when packing your
luggage before setting off on a trip.

1. Pack light to travel light. If you can manage with a carry- on, do it. Try taking half of the things you need and twice the money. You can make buying a few new items a fun part of the adventure.

2. Pack a sleep mask and ear plugs. These can come in handy on a plane, train or in your hotel room.

3. Capitalize on empty suitcase space. Roll your clothes, instead of folding them. Stuff socks, underwear, and accessories inside of shoes. Leave no space unused.

4. Keep a sarong or pashmina in your carry-on. They can be used as a blanket on the plane, a scarf if it’s cold or a shawl on an evening out.

5. Bag it. Kitchen sandwich bags can be used to hold your accessories, vacuum pack bags can be space savers, and trash bags have multiple uses (laundry bag, shoe covers).

6. Skip airport snacks and bring your own. You can save yourself a bit of money and keep your hunger at bay in case you have a delayed flight.

7. Create compartments. Two words: packing cube. If you are visiting more than one city during your trip, packing cubes will keep your suitcase organized and save you from having to pack and unpack.

8. Share your packing space. Traveling as a couple? Split your clothes between two suitcases on the off chance one of them gets lost during the flight.

9. Bring a multi-socket extension cord. Although newer hotels have USB ports in rooms, it’s best to have an extra outlet to charge all of your electronics at once.

10. Make photocopies before leaving home.
If you’re traveling out of the country, make two photocopies of your passport. Use your smartphone to take pictures of your car in the airport’s parking garage and do the same for your luggage and its contents in case it gets lost.

Luggage Photo

Need help buying new luggage - what size is best?

It is a personal, subjective issue what shape, style and size of bag you take for checked luggage.
May I point out that most airlines who are either based or fly within both Europe and North America tend to have a max individual bag weght limited of around 32 kgs or equivalent in lbs. This is generally because health and safety regs in both these areas have made these the max amount baggage handlers are allowed to shift.

Have a Great Trip !

Aloha and Welcome ! Book Your Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour with us !
Explore the breathtaking beauty of the Hawaiian Islands through the finest aerial tours, offered at fares that give you maximum vacation value, by the world's most honored helicopter tour company,

photo courtesy of Blue Hawaiian Helicopter
Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is the premiere helicopter tour company in Hawaii with a unique blend of cultural excursions to the Big Island, Maui, Kauai & now Oahu. Remote waterfalls...velvet green valleys...ancient cinder cones...pristine mountain pools...Hawaiian legends...Escape into the hidden beauty of Hawaii with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters.

Frommer's says "Blue Hawaiian is the Cadillac of helicopter tour companies."

Blue Hawaiian has been awarded the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences 5 Star Diamond Award every year since 1995 and is currently the only activity company in Hawaii to have received this award.
"Tour with total confidence. There's simply no argument: Blue Hawaiian is Hawaii’s #1 helicopter tour company. Blue Hawaiian's aircraft maintenance technicians have received the FAA’s coveted “Certificate of Excellence, Diamond Award” every year since 1998. No other helicopter tour company in Hawaii has ever received this critical recognition. Blue Hawaiian was honored by the FAA for a record 12th straight year in January, 2009, at a ceremony in Honolulu, and the FAA further honored Blue Hawaiian with the very first “Certificate of Excellence, Platinum Award.” And Blue Hawaiian is the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii certified by the Department of Defense.

Welcome to the Blue Skies of Hawaii. Blue is the only helicopter tour company serving all four major Hawaiian islands: Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island. That means wherever you go in the Islands of Aloha, you know exactly how to get the world’s finest aerial tours: just remember the color of the sky.

We don’t just operate the best equipment, we help develop it. From the ultra-quiet, spacious, and powerful 21st-century Eco-Star helicopter to the breakthrough Garmin G500H technology, which gives our pilots astonishing three-dimensional "synthetic vision" terrain awareness in less than optimal weather; from our pioneering of multi-camera in-flight video, to designing vastly improved cockpit air-conditioning—Blue Hawaiian is always at the forefront of leading-edge innovations for your safety, comfort, and enjoyment. Because when it comes to our guests, good enough is never enough.

The finest pilots in the sky. Blue Hawaiian prides itself on hand-picking only the finest and most experienced pilots—the absolute cream of the profession—and we make sure that every one of them becomes a State of Hawaii Certified Tour Guide. Blue Hawaiian is also the only helicopter tour company in Hawaii with its own state-of-the-art Flight Simulator, and the only one that puts its pilots through annual factory and FAA recurrent training.

You’ll be a star, or at least fly like one. When you choose Blue, you’re choosing Hollywood’s first-call helicopter tour company for blockbuster aerial photography. In addition to the upcoming mega-releases Battleship and Pirates of the Caribbean IV, our pilots have flown aerial photography for Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Tropic Thunder, Pirates of the Caribbean III, Crimson Tide, George of the Jungle, Honeymoon in Vegas, and numerous other major motion pictures, not to mention television shoots for MTV, The Food Channel, National Geographic, the Weather ChannelWheel of Fortune and more. If these top professionals trust Blue Hawaiian with their multi-million dollar productions, perhaps Hollywood knows something you should know?

Living Aloha, every day. All of us in Hawaii have a responsibility to uphold the islands’ proud tradition of hospitality. Years ago, the late cultural pioneer George Kanahele (author of “Ku Kanaka: Stand Tall”) showed us the incredible potential of using our helicopters as “flying classrooms.” We take that mission very seriously. Our pilots offer our guests insightful and accurate information about Hawaiian culture, flora and fauna, history, geology and place names. Our guests are able to ask their pilot questions through our proprietary two-way in-flight communication system, which enhances their involvement, and when they share their knowledge with their friends and family upon returning home, the outreach extends. It’s an honor to do our part to help preserve Hawaii’s precious native culture.

You don’t have to take our word for it. Only Blue gives you the confidence of consistent and repeated endorsements and awards from the most important international, national, and local organizations in the travel industry: National Geographic Magazine, Frommer’s Hawaii, The Travel Channel; the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, the Tour Operators Program of Safety, Helicopters Association International, and more. Blue Hawaiian is also the local Hawaii favorite, regularly voted the “#1 Air Tour” by the local readers of Hawaii Tribune-Herald, West Hawaii Today, North Hawaii News, Kauai People and MidWeek Kauai, and The Maui News." by Blue Hawaiian Helicopter

Along Maui's North shore between Ho'okipa Beach Park and Maliko Gulch there is a small concrete structure that looks out to the sea. In the surrounding pasture the cattle graze and fisherman walk out to the sea. Those who drive the Hana Highway watch for that structure
because somebody repaints it every week or two. The muralists some with great talent, others just post a birthday greeting to memorials. Today it has become quite the social media site. Ironically it is an ad billboard on an island that does not allow billboards. We have never seen anyone that paints it , often wondering when or who they are.

Once a year the Maui Amateur Radio Club sets up a Field Day and technically they are the only ones authorized to use the blockhouse. This all happens in June and the members come and set up stations and make as many contacts with other stations as they can. The reason the Club has chosen this spot is that during World War 11 it was a radio station communication with the mainland. All the equipment was kept inside the blockhouse and there was a quonset hut where the operators made their barracks. The Club members paint the blockhouse and clean up the surrounding area. The rest of the year it is the muralists that paint these illustrations.
